At the start of every year people make many resolutions, for many the most common one is running a marathon. It does not matter if they will finish the race just being in one and making the effort counts. It is among the many reasons why people may join one. Another main reason is to get the right to brag to friends and family. For whatever reason that one may have to choose to join it is a good idea to get prepared beforehand this is why they should get tips on how to train for and run a marathon.

You do not want to start the race only to drop out because you do not have the right gear. Getting a good fitting shoe that will not by any chance give you blisters is a great place to start. The shoe needs to be light while at the same time giving the much needed support that one needs. Wearing them to a shorter race just to feel how comfortable they are is a good idea.

Apart from running shoes you need to dress the part. It is not recommended for one to run wearing a cotton shirt even if they are provided because you will suffocate in it. A shirt made of nylon is best since it is light and suffocation cannot happen when wearing it. Also wear the clothes before hand to feel if they are comfortable for you.

Being fit both physically and mentally is important to having a good race. This is why many trainers recommend that one runs a few shorter courses before the day. This will keep you physically fit and also give you mental fitness. If you cannot find a race to enroll in you can run as a group of friends.

You want to be comfortable with the topography of where you are racing at. This is why you should run up hills and down valleys if that is the kind of topography that the courses will have. Running a flat area might seem easy but in actual sense it is hard and tiring because you use the same muscles.

Keeping the body hydrated is very crucial this is why one should take the same energy drink that will be provided that day. The frequency of the drink should also match that of the big day. This kind of information is gotten from asking the organizers.

Having the confidence that you can do it and emerge victorious is very crucial. This is why it is advised that three to four days before the date, run a similar course in both the shoes and clothes that you will wear on that day as well as using the pace you will use. This greatly increases the confidence.

Advise is given that you train at the same time everyday this is so that the body can have the rhythm especially when it comes to bath room breaks. This kind of training can be very difficult for those that are not disciplined enough.
